Typetester

The Typetester is an online application for the comparison of fonts for the screen.

Allowing you to compare three fonts at a time, fonts are displayed in Normal, Uppercase and Smallcaps each with regular, bold and italic variants. Fonts are grouped according to the Safe list, Windows and Mac default sets. Just enter your text in the sample box or use the lorem ipsum* default.

As new fonts are bundled into operating systems, the list of the common fonts will be updated.

Technical details

Typetester’s code structure is XHTML, styled with CSS and driven by JavaScript for manipulating DOM structures. Typetester will not work without JavaScript enabled.

* Lorem ipsum is simply dummy text used in the printing and typesetting industry and has been the industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
