Looking for some free fonts for your website? Then here are some sites that may fit the bill.

If you're looking for some seasonal or themed fonts then Speciality Fonts has a small selection.

Includes Easter and Christmas as well as some Party Time and Star fonts. See below for some of the Christmas font categories available.

Gifts and Christmas Stockings fonts, Bells and Wreaths,
Santas, Christmas Trees, Snow and Ice, Lights and Ornaments, Snowmen, and Holly fonts amongst many others.

And for someone born on St Patrick's Day (like your author!) sure you'll be looking for the Irish fonts so you will!

Since starting in 1998 Abstract Fonts have grown to have over 10,000 free fonts and about 1 million unique downloads every month. You can view the fonts in many ways: latest, categories, designers, recent popularity, popularity climbers and sliders, similarity, best and worst rated, etc...

Each of the fonts has a customizable string preview, character map, member comments, similar fonts as well as a font info tab with all kinds of helpful information about the font.

Acidfonts.com have 4700 free fonts for Mac and PC available with example pages showing graphical examples of the fonts. Categories include, seasonal ie Halloween and Christmas fonts as well as Sci-fi and number fonts. To download the fonts you require, just left click on the font graphic of choice.

If this is your first visit to a fonts site, you may wish to read the PC Help or MAC Help pages for information on downloading, converting and installing fonts. Also on the site is a sampler for the Xara3d banner maker. Just enter your text, choose a font type, colour and size, select a style and click preview. You can download your sample file too.

Dafont.com also have a massive selection to choose from. Some are only free for personal use however. Plenty of categories to choose from ie Fancy, Foreign look, Techno, Bitmap, Gothic, Script, Dingbats etc.

Useful tip - Use the dropdown menus to limit or extend your choices ie display 50 per page instead of 10.

Simply the Best Fonts is another large resource with plenty to choose from. 3D, Gothic and Horror, Holiday, Western and Sci-fi fonts to name just a few.

Browse through the alphabetical font listings or the font categories to view the available free fonts. Each font has a full preview page with proprietary details. Most fonts are freeware and as such free to use for professional webmasters and hobbyists. If you wish to use them commercially, you may have to register them first. Make sure to see if the font is freeware or shareware. Registration information can always be found in the readme.txt file attached to the font file.

Wantedftonts.com is another good site with a vast selection to choose from. Has links beside each example to the maker's website. Categories to choose from include adult, asian, casual, dingbats, entertainment, famous, fire and ice, funtastic, futuristic, gothic, graffiti, grunge, handwriting, holiday, horror, pixelated, primitive, retro, romance, sans serif, script, shadowed, stencil and typewriter fonts.

Fontso - High quality free fonts. Fonts are categorised alphabetically, by author and by most popular. No category listing unfortunately but you can download all the fonts in a 27 meg zip file if so inclined!
